I’m glad you mentioned about wearing a Regimental tie in the UK, yes, if a knowing eye see’s you wearing a tie of a Regiment you haven’t belonged to, it would be seen as a little weird. It should be earned.

Could you do an episode on starching shirt collars and cuffs? I have a starch-spray meant for shirts I occasionally use, and it helps to create inredible crisp and stiff, and whiter, collars and cuffs. Do you use/recommend/discourage such use on reade-to-wear shirts, as they may not be privileged with better treatment from the maker? Thanks!

Royal Navy and Airforce ties are different, Royal Marines are right to left and others are typically spotted with insignia. You should do one on the other styles of tie.

i think the term repp is being confused for regimental. repp is a type of silk with a small ribbed pattern, which most of these ties are. but the style of the tie (referring to the stripes and their history) is regimental. one could have any style of tie made in a repp silk, while a regimental stripe tie could be made from non-repp silks

Do American stripe ties travel right to left because Americans lack the hand to eye coordination required to handle swords? It would also explain they're love of multiple round firearms. I'm kidding, I'm just kidding. Though in the UK most regimental ties are only available if you can prove you've the right to wear one. Oddly enough the most coverted and recognisable is the MCC tie - again if you're not a member of the Marylebone Cricket Club you'll have to make do with a close approximation. Also to answer the question over the saying from heart to sword - the sword is in the right hand at the time!

I'm a little confused by your comment about the British rep tie stripe running downward from left to right as it relates to the expression "From Heart to Sword". Most people, being right handed, would wear their sword on the left side. It would be very awkward for a right-handed person to draw their sword if it were worn on the right.

I am not paying you 130 pounds for a tie with a label like that - it looks cheap. If you want to see a nice label, look at Turnball & Asser. Also, your margins on a tie of this quality - albeit made in Britain - are extremely high. It is one thing for a Savile Row tailor to charge that price, but you're not a Sailve Row tailor and you're brand new on the What pedigree do you have to charge that amount of money? They are nice ties, but not 130 pounds nice.
