Why Prachand Is a big deal for India | World Affairs

In the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the first batch of indigenously produced Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) called "Prachand" was inducted into the Indian Air Force today. The helicopters are mainly intended for high-altitude deployment and contain stealth characteristics, armour protection, night attack capabilities, and crash-worthy landing gear for improved survivability. They can fire weapons at altitudes of up to 5,000 metres
The deployment of these helicopters will significantly improve the IAF's combat capabilities. According to the Defence Minister, assault helicopters have long been needed, and their importance was shown during the 1999 Kargil conflict. The LCH is the culmination of two decades of research and development, and its admission into the IAF marks a key milestone in defence manufacturing
