Disgraced former police chief James Burke who botched the Gilgo Beach murders investigation has been arrested AGAIN for soliciting a male sex worker.
Burke, 58, was taken into custody by park rangers in a Farmingville, Long Island park shortly after 10 a.m., according to a spokesperson for Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone. He faces charges of offering a sex act, public lewdness, indecent exposure, and criminal solicitation, with additional potential charges pending, the spokesperson said. He was previously convicted in 2012 for beating a suspect in police custody and covering it up, and sentenced in 2016 to 46 months in prison for ass*ult and obstruction of justice. He was released in 2018.

Case Background: The Long Island serial killer (LISK), also known as THE GILGO BEACH KILLER and THE CRAIGSLIST RIPPER is an unidentified suspected serial killer who has murdered between 10 and 16 people over 20 years, with the remains of their victims found between 2010 and 2011 after the search for Shannan Gilbert began. Shannan's 911 call on May 1st, 2010 launched an investigation into her disappearance and helped police to discover the grounds where many bodies had been discarded of, undiscovered, mostly in burlap sacks. "The Gilgo Four" were the first to be discovered, all found within a quarter of a mile of one another near Gilgo beach in 2010. Shannan's body was discovered a year after these four bodies were- the police have stated that her death was an accident and is unrelated to the case, but a private autopsy found that there were signs of strangulation.
