Derivatives of HYPERBOLIC functions (KristaKingMath)

Hyperbolic functions are similar to trig functions. They're distinguished by the extra "h" that gets added to the standard trig function, for example, sin(x) vs. sinh(x), or cos(x) vs. cosh(x).

The derivatives of the hyperbolic functions are almost identical to those of the standard trig functions. The primary difference is that the derivatives of sinh(x) and cosh(x) don't change sign from positive to negative and vice versa, unlike the derivative of sin(x) and cos(x).

Hi, I’m Krista! I make math courses to keep you from banging your head against the wall. ;)

Math class was always so frustrating for me. I’d go to a class, spend hours on homework, and three days later have an “Ah-ha!” moment about how the problems worked that could have slashed my homework time in half. I’d think, “WHY didn’t my teacher just tell me this in the first place?!”
