As someone with 'Pure O' OCD I love the term! When I was in my teens I spent years quietly thinking I had gone crazy and I was dangerous. No one noticed and I never thought it could be OCD because I was told it always came with the traditional compulsions. It took me YEARS to discover that what I had was OCD and I wasn't dangerous. If I had heard the term earlier, I would have saved myself years of suffering. Sure, 'Pure O' might be a slightly misleading title, but it is a term everyone can understand from context and it makes it easier and faster to explain what I have been struggling with.

While I agree that PureOCD is label and it is over-definition and may be misleading.
However, I discovered that PureOCD is amazing word to define worry loops to people who think OCD is washing your hands and compulsion. It pinpoints area of rumination that is not explained by official medical resources and is still in dark.

It's a misnomer but unfortunately it's the name that has been widely accepted. If I called it "Primarily Mental OCD", which I think is a more accurate term than "Purely Obsessional OCD", no one would know what I was talking about.
