I feel motivated to share this cuz I just found out. For years I worked overnight and for years I thought I had some developmental disability or early onset alzheimers or dementia. Or something wrong because I would literally forget or just not be able to recall the most basic words in conversation. Like the word would never come, which makes for very frustrating conversation for all parties and really messed with my confidence. Turns out it was because I wasn't getting proper sleep due to my overnight position. Your body needs complete darkness to really sleep and get a healthy dose of Rem. I no longer have the recall issue since I'm no longer working overnight.

In the last 5 years I've been so stressed with the direction of my life that I've noticed my sleep have taken a huge toll and sure enough, injuries take longer to heal and it's been harder for me to study and recall information for university. Sleep is one of those things I always think I can just skimp by with... gotta fix it

I have trouble sleeping for years. Tried everything including theraphy.
My doctor does not want to prescribe medication. And I live in a country where there in no over the counter medicine like Ambien without doctors prescription.
Medication is the only th8ng I never tried. My melatonin lvels are normal. Still only 3 to 5 hours a night.

Worrying about sleep fuels insomnia. If the “experts” would back off a little on the importance of sleep, people would sleep better.

How do you know if you have achieved true deep sleep? I take quetiapine (bipolar II) and it helps me sleep. Without it (and white noise), I can't sleep at all.
