You can also do the trick differently by telling them to put their chosen number face down. All opposite sides of a die equals 7. So if they choose a 2 and put it face down and you 'see' a 5, you know it's a 2. I think that would be more effective as you definitely cannot 'see' anything from the bottom. 😉

A good way of doing this effect is as a mentalism routine by combining it with 6 playing cards (1-6). You then force the corresponding playing card before revealing the dice.

If you wanted to, you can also force the dice number by having a separate plastic canister in your back pocket, extracting it and then doing a shuttle pass to swap it in for the spectator's canister.

I had them when I was a kid, but my canisters were black. I use to say they were from a roll of photography film and do the trick.

why do u need two tubes, whats the justification ? Why don't you just cover the die with the tube and lose the lid and then reveal.

Are you blind? Just asking. Because you doing this trick and you feel for the other container and say: there it is.
It is visible, and your head is offscreen so you could have looked down.
So hence the question if you are blind or not?
Otherwise, why would you say: there it is?
