Every journey, be it big or small, inwards or outwards, is also a tale; a silky tale that interlaces our very own world.
These are our tales. And we share them with you along with a wish: to place yourself in the leading part!
Featured MANTILITY Silk Scarf: "Orofografia" by Unknown Artist - Kois Mansion | Available in 30x30cm, 45x45cm, 70x70cm, 90x90cm
Concept: This 100% MANTILITY silk scarf depicts an extraordinary ceiling fresco, that decorates the “Kois Mansion”. Built in 1860, the Mansion, residence of Kois family, is located in the heart of Hermoupolis, the capital town of Syros Island. Expressing the classicism prevailing in the architecture of Europe at the time, is adorned with an imposing pediment, which occupies the entire facade.
The ceiling fresco gives the silk scarf the name “Orofografia” and represents eight of the gods of ancient Greeks – Zeus, Hermes, Themis, Apollo, Dimitra, Athena and four leading features of the Greek War of Independence against the Ottomans back in the 1821; Rigas Feraios, Georgios Karaiskakis, Theodoros Kolokotronis and Constantine Kanaris. The fresco is completed by a frieze painting, crowned with a brim which leads to an ornamentation typical of the Ionic order.
