Jake brakes are needed to slow it down no matter the loudness some engines especially old 2 stroke Detroits can be quieted down because they are naturally loud engines. If you don’t use Jake brake especially loaded it may end badly for your truck… or your truck and yourself, or all that and OTHERS.
