I'm currently struggling a lot in my household, I finally broke down and told my grandparents. I told them I'm planning on moving out and talked about all the things I need before I do that. They offered to help pay for the apartment, and offered to give me their old car, and put me on their car insurance. I cannot thank them enough for everything they've done for me. I love them both with everything I have and I will return this favor.

It seems like only a grandparent wouldn't mind at all showing up multiple hours early.
All just to make sure they're there when their loved one gets out so they don't have to wait for them and be anxious, seeing as how the grandparent understands the stressful living situation they've been dealing with in prison.

They understand how important it is that they're the first person they see when they get out!! Grandparents are usually pretty sweet like that!!

i love my great uncle dearly. i do. but i saw how he talked to my mom, and i saw how he treated me when i was young and stupid and getting involved with people i shouldn't have. But if only one person showed they cared about me? That truly would have made all the difference. He was my grandmas brother. He was a prison guard. He solidified my opinion that- yeah you can look like a good guy to anyone when you act ok and have that position... but i have seen first hand how cold and un-reachable those people are. He loved to brag about how the prisoners called him "boss" and he's best friends or at least tolerates my covert narcist, extremely violent, mother. My grandma loved her brother so much, and i know i messed up so much that i really dont have the courage to say anything. But. He never asked me anything, he never criticized me, he didnt act like my grandma did. So i dont even know how to perceive him. My mother is extremely sadistic. It makes me wonder why shes the only person he has connected with....My grandma, my best friend.... i want to be close to her brother but i just feel like its impossible.
