I'm amazed at how the matriarch moved the baby, then braced him with her feet and body to make sure he didn't fall right back into the same awkward position. She showed incredible intelligence, knowledge of physics (yeh) and life experience to get that little guy righted and able to pull himself out of the sump/trough thingy. And the baby was not from her family !! Altruism is rare for some people let alone in the animal Beast.

OMG!! This is why I donated regularly 4 two yrs to the Wildlife SOS elephant sanctuary in India. When my dog/4 legged child died of old age 2017, I flew to the sanctuary and volunteered to care for the elephants for a week. Never traveled like that...it was a soul healing experience. They are grand and brilliant

And the Lions are just doing what Lions do... They aren't evil. But nobody wants to see harm come to that baby.

Omg. This had me holding my breathe pushing and tugging n pulling along with the matriarch of the other herd. Just about cried. The real mother seemed to be saying thank you in the end. Yes, it was so beautiful. Just beautiful. Thank you God. I love elephants. Awesome creatures of God. And supremely intelligent.

I saw the original video of this. The baby was trapped in that cement trough for something like an hour and a half. Lions waiting. It is so hard to watch. But the incredible thing is, they worked it out; they moved the scared momma off and then grandma went to work. She figured out how to get that upside down, wedged in, baby out. It is amazing how she put together what needed to be done to get the little one out of that trough.
