2020 Porsche Boxster GTS: Is this mid-range Boxster the pick of the bunch?

preview_player
Показать описание
The fourth-generation Porsche Boxster – known as the 718 – can be mellow or maniacal depending on which end of the model range your car sits in. But does this middle-of-the-road GTS version give you the best of both worlds? Dan Prosser finds out in this CarGurus UK review.

Pros
Exceptionally enjoyable to drive
Practical enough to use every day
Roof-down thrills without compromising the driving experience

Cons
Four-cylinder engines sound bland
Tyres and brakes will be expensive to replace
Lacks the rear seats of a 911

That was a great review mate, straight to the point, no fake laughs, no b.s. Excellent!

I love this car. This is currently my favourite Porsche.

Thanks Dan, another spot on review.
I really appreciate and respect your opinion, and like the straightforward style of reporting. I can also tell you're a good driver. Don't see that too much in a lot of these car reviews. 👍🏻

Prefer this kind of review than the drivel you get from CarWow..

I wish we got your Alpine here in Canada Dan. Nice review looks awesome with the roof dropped but I'd prefer the hard top.
Have a great weekend ☘️

Enjoyed this video Dan. In terms of fun (and ignore 0-60, topspeed, G-forces), would your Alpine A110 be more fun to drive than the 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 on british country roads? 🤔 Would be great to see a back-to-back comparison of those two cars if logistics allow it!

This car could have 500HP and the zero to sixty time would still be 4.5 seconds according to PORSCHE.

Great quick review. At 5:20 "I love the way the soundtrack hardens as you go through five, six thousand rpm." It'd be nice if you'd had a snippet of exactly that as it happened, showing the rev counter.

2 facts this sounds great and with pdk its 3.8 0-60

Dan will be keen on your view on the pdk versions given fall gearing issues

Really ! i rather have a Cayman GTS 4.0 With a Manual over Any Turbocharged 911 🇩🇪

This would be the perfect application for a properly geared manual transmission. Wouldn't be stepping on the almighty 911 toes and yet could be the ultimate back road driver.

I love my 718 turbo engine. It provides so much torque whilst the high reving engines does not.

Wait, you're telling me you have to put the key in the ignition to turn on the engine?! Push button start??

Dan you don’t mention the gearing of the car in that other reviews mention that it’s very long geared with limited opportunity to explore the higher rev range beyond 2nd gear legally - does this matter in the overall driveability?
