Just spent the weekend taking the autobox out of my Land Cruiser. 12 hours work, (two of those was drinking tea.)
Just wanted to say thank you Mike, it is channels like yours and some others that give me the confidence to tackle big jobs.
Dropping it off in Brighton to be rebuilt tomorrow.

Living in that hollow may protect you from wind chill, but it’ll mean you’re in the coldest static air - hot air rises, but cold air sinks, so you’ll have the lowest absolute temperature in town!

Yesterday on my way to Sarnia Ontario -18, today Sunday +2 in London Ontario. Crazy.

Aye even here out in the flat summer or winter our wind will always lower the temp by about 5c.
Winter at -5 or so can be quite nice if you're out n movin.
At higher than 35c in summer it becomes "stinkin hot"
At least across there they hopefully don't run the fuel and air lines down the chassis as they did on HGVs in the 70s! O the sights of lorry drivers at the side of the road mid morning up north with lighted tapers. Or getting the brake thawed on a mate's foden. Before they left the yard.

Hey Mike where are you originally from? Just finding out you live in Canada? But your accent sounds like you are from somewhere in England maybe up north somewhere 🤔

In view of the weather, I will excuse you from prior promises. In NH it was only -20* but I didn't try to do anything except keep all the faucets dripping.

That sounded a bit of a pain int bum for you, and well saved with a bottle of Jamesons. Quite a fluctuation in temperature you get there. It felt cold here today, and it was 3.5 deg's. Mustn't grumble eh - tropical compared.

Unless you live in a cold climate, like you and I do, it's really hard to explain Mike! The thermometer might tell you -10C but the wind chill can be wicked.... Hard to explain to people back home in the UK.... -12C here tomorrow and my diesel ⛽ tank is 90% full of winter ❄️ diesel! 🤞🙏

In a sense, you did complete a cold weather experiment Mike.
Question: Will the Yaris run at -30C?
Answer: No!

does everybody with a LR also have a small car? I have a Corsa! How many KM on the clock of your Yaris and how is the VVT holding up ? they say it is a weak point . Sorry about the mirror, are you sure it was time laps and not the mirror freezing up? If I new it was that cold, I would have suggested "snapping wheel bolts" . True the wind does not make it colder, but the cold reach deeper and cool off the vehicle faster.

Hi Mike . Does this methyl hydrate does any harm to a motor and can it be used on diesel as well as petrol ? For an old fuel tank this might be an in situ solution . I have never heard of this stuff, (or as Mr 69woodburner points out ( cheers buddy), methanol ) . Can you say a bit more about it ? Thank you .
I aught to be doing the washing up but my butt seems frozen to my chair whilst the missus has gone out !

For those of you, like wondering what on earth methyl hydrate is; it's methanol or methyl alcohol CH3OH.
