The Burgh hasn't changed since I moved away in 1999. Drivers still slowing down for no reason when they get to the Fort Pitt, Squirrel Hill, or Liberty tunnels !! Pgh Dad, you nailed this one !!! LOVE IT !!!

Way too accurate n'nat. When you move away and then move back here, you just appreciate it all the more.

God it’s like nails on a chalkboard. I live in Miami and worked with 2 different old bats from Pittsburgh. They’d talk about jumbo (bologna), gum bands (rubber bands), chip chop ??, bitzels ??, food order (grocery list), jag, and so so much more, It was insane trying to figure out WTF they were talking about sometimes.

That Hills shirt needs its own spinoff show. It truly was where the toys were.

Love it!  I love the reference to the belt lines, Etna, Chi Chi's, etc.  The part that cracked me up the most were the references to "If you take . . . you'll be getting off at Grant St. whether you like it or not" and "You'll end up in Ohio".   My first experience in Pittsburgh was when we moved there.  My mom was trying to go "dahntahn" to find my Dad.  Instead, she accidentally took the wrong lane and we ended up on a bridge to Oakland, LOL.

I also love the Hills t-shirt.  We moved away in '86 and I hadn't realized that Hills was no longer there until we went back again last summer.

I think Pittsburgh Dad should go to "Jynt Igle" with a list looking for "chip chopped ham", "jumbo", "city chicken", and maybe something to "warsh" clothes with.  =)

Thanks for the laugh!

I once was given directions to an office in Oakland that I hadn't to been in a number of years, and the secretary giving me directions described it as "Catty corner to the Syria Mosque." I replied, "But they tore down the Syria Mosque 10 years ago." Her response: "They DID????"

When this came out 7 years ago? My daughter was driving and said. OMG you have to see this..I shit you not. We had to pull over. I thought I was gona pee myself. I was choking and couldn't breath. We were dyin laughing. I'm a 5 generation Yinzer. Spring Hill Troy Hill Spring garden to millvale to Shaler. My dad. My yinzer dad came out of your mouth. We screamed and lost it. Now my Dad is gone and here it shows up again. The tears are not just from laughing but the love of a good Dad that was. Yinzer through and through. Love you Dad. Miss you and I hope when you were on your way to heaven you didn't go past the brick wall or ya went to far. 💙 hope mummy didn't give you to much hell for showing up late.💜

From Philadelphia, can entirely relate to roads in Pennsylvania taking YEARS to finish, most of which have been outdated for decades and will therefore NEVER be finished. That's why I love using the expression "(blank) looks worse than 50 miles of PennDOT road."
