Space is a terrifying place, an endless void of that we humans can barely comprehend. It is a dark, cold place of total isolation and the perfect setting for the horror genre. Alien Isolation still scares me all these years later. What I find unique about it is that it trains your mind to be more aware of your surroundings. You can't rely on the motion tracker alone, you have to scan constantly for cover, and, my personal favorite, listen for danger. Not that other games haven't done this, this one puts a stronger emphasis on it. You have to listen for footsteps, or groaning in the walls.

And depending on difficulty levels, some hiding spots are searched first. I played through it multiple times, but then I tried nightmare. Crawl spaces were frequently searched by the creature. Even areas I thought it couldn't reach.

There's a part where you can take a route through a conveyor belt, which has small windows where you can see out. I never thought it could get in there. Too bad I didn't record my screaming.

I would be super happy if someone would do a remake of Martian Gothic. Unfortunately, the company that programmed the game no longer exists. I tried to program a new edition of the game myself, but I couldn't do it. It didn't fail because of my programming skills, but because of my 3D moddeling skills. The basic mechanics of being attacked by opponents and solving puzzles were there, but as I said, I couldn't model the Vita Basis in 3D.

THANK YOU !!!! At " 1:05, " THAT IMAGE, has been floating around in my head for a time. Funny enough, I've NEVER ACTUALLY PLAYED, "System Shock" . The best I can figure is that I must have seen the image on a game disk package or something years ago. What with that boss fight/encounter level in "Chrono Trigger" for the SNES where you fight the AI who created all the machines, the image just stayed with me. But I didn't know the game name. Thanks so much!!!

Thanks to alien: Isolation I have a few more grey hair. This game was nervewrecking. Not because of some cheap jumpscares or anything. But the constant danger of being too noisy and attrack the alien .. or sneak carefully around just to sneak directly into his loving arms.... especially when you have not found a savepoint for 30 minutes or longer.. I loved that game. And the artwork .. cudos for the developers of the artwork!
