There is also Jim Folz UnfoldTool (very old but maybe the best in terms of options), and Flattery (this one does not work well if you are not inside of a group, it took me a while to figure that out).

Very cool tools, the smash object is a nice one too...would be good for making linear maps out of gradient landscapes too I think...I'm no good with the organic stuff yet though so...

Nice. Does it work if the faces have a thickness ? Or would the thickness be unfolded ? Plywood box into cut sheet .
