I was abt to be scammed.
I was selling a mobile device and the buyer said he would transfer me the entire amount of the quoted price in advance thru BHIM Pay.
But instead of paying me the money he was requesting the same amount from his BHIM pay to mine.
Which I could easily understand he is trying to take away money instead of depositing money.
So beware of such scamsters too.

This exact scam has happened with my friend. He lost his ₹5000 in a hurry to buy an iPhone 6 for cheap. I warned him, but he didn't listen to me.

Hi, I am from Bengaluru. Same happened to me when I was looking for a S9+. This person also have some issues regarding his friends health. So he was selling the device in urgency at 30k. He tried to convince me with his Army Card n Aadhar Card which are of same person but photos were different. I still have those images. I contacted my Uncle whose is in Army in Bengaluru. He asked him few questions about his Posts n all. He was not able to answer those obviously, then he scoled him like hell. And finally didn't trap into this. Thanks for sharing, I thought I was the only one.

A Similar thing happened to me when i was looking to buy gtx 1060 on indiamart. I was shocked to see it many of them selling it for just between 5-10k there. Upon contacting the seller via whatsapp, he said i could pay half the price as an advance and pay the rest after having received the parcel. At first it sounded quite reasonable to me. Then when he gave me a link to a online computer retail website claiming to be working in it as his proof of authenticity, that's when i sensed something fishy. Everything sold there was in dollars. So curiously i asked if the gpu is coming from abroad to which he agreed. Obviously then there has to be customs duty charges. His immediate response was me not worry about it and he will pay everything. No way in the world can anyone import a $200 gpu to india, deal with customs and international shipping charges and sell it off for only 10k. Clearly i got convinced this person is fraud so cut my conversation with him. Guys beware of such cheats!

I have a problem for flipkart. I bought a device lg g5 about 6 months ago..as a brand new device. But what I got was a refurbished one. The device is causing so many problems like wifi and camera stuffs.. that can happen to any device..but I can't do the servicing without paying the money. As it is out of it's warranty period. The device was first opened 1.5 years back. I got a faulty charger which I had to replace because it was not charging fast and all. After that I came to know that my device is a refurbished one. What do I do? Please suggest.

This thing is very common on OLX. The same thing happened with me for Alienware laptop. The seller claimed that he was in UK and that he was shipping from there for cheap. He asked for shipping fee and told me that I could pay the remaining amount later. Never trust these people guys. In fact in Bangalore a person got kidnapped trying to sell a car on OLX. Dhananjay is right. Meet the seller only if you are 100% sure that he is a genuine seller and meet in a crowded public place.

Hi. I am happy to hear that your friend was saved from the scam. And really appreciate your efforts to actually create awareness about this scam as I WAS SCAMMED BY THIS FAKE INDIAN ARMY PERSON TOO.
It's a terrible experience when you loose out on money to these scams, and this is a really good way of creating awareness. Good luck to your friend and you.

Hi Dhananjay, I would like to tell you something similar. I was in US for 3 months in 2015 for office work and was searching for a good smartphone deal for my wife there. I also found something similar on Craigslist USA (it is a similar website to OLX in US). There was a lady who wanted to sell her LG G4/V10/ Samsung Note 4 (dont remember the exact device). The ad was posted from US, but the lady said she is from Canada and has some arrangement with the courier company. So, I need to pay the shipping charge of some $100 first and then they will handover the product to me. If I feel the product is good, then I can pay her complete amount for phone's price. I communicated with her for sharing the product first and then agreeing to pay the complete money or even lil extra for the delivery & phone, which she obviously denied. I found it to be fishy so denied it. So, what I meant to share was, seems like something similar happens across the globe!! :)
