Scholars often credit Chopin with saving the human race, composing Op. 25 No.6 in an effort to detect time traveling robots, as obviously no actual human being would ever be capable of performing this.

When you see that number 3 is already fantaisie impromptu, you know this gonna get difficult

You should do this for every major composer! Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Beethoven, Scriabin, etc

I’m so glad that Ballade No. 1 in G Minor made it in this meme. Definitely my favorite Chopin piece

Yep...this is gonna blow up
And...in my opinion...Ballade 4 is harder than 10 4
Great video anyway!

Its amazing how brilliant melodies still come out of these insane pieces

I'd disagree, Ballade 1's coda is way more complex technically and musically than Torrent Etude

Using these pieces... for me the classification would be this, from the easiest:
0:00 Prelude in E minor, Op. 28 No. 4
0:14 Nocturne in E flat Major, Op. 9 No. 2
0:33 Valse Brillante in A flat Major, Op. 34 No. 1
0:25 Fantaisie-Impromptu in C sharp minor, Op. 66
1:06 Prelude Op. 28 No. 16
1:31 Etude in C sharp minor, Op. 10 No. 4 - "Torrent"
1:53 Etude in A flat major Op. 25 No. 6 - "Double thirds"
0:40 Nocturne in D Flat Major, Op. 27 No.2
0:49 Ballade No.1 in G minor, Op.23
1:39 Piano Sonata No. 3 in B minor, Op. 58 - mov.1 Allegro maestoso.
1:16 Ballade No. 4 in F minor, Op.54

Ballade 4 is the most difficult (and also beautiful) piece by Chopin, maybe behind his polonaises and some sonata parts in terms of difficulty

Should've put the first bars of "Winter Wind" as most uncanny to confuse nonmusicians

I'm a relatively new piano player and have been trying to play Chopin and I must say
The difference in difficulty between the first prelude and nocturne op 9 no 2 is RIDICULOUS
You need so much control to play that nocturne while not over sustaining the notes, and the chord progressions in the left hand are often in very awkward positions that makes it hard to control your volume in each key. Sure you can memorize the notes to the piece in a short amount of time, but being able to play it and make it sound good is something else man...

I'd personally say its far more difficult than waltz op 34 no 1 0:33, and fantasie impromptu is also more diffucult than the waltz personally. The waltz just has a fancy sounding opening, but it's quite simple once you realize its pattern that just changes octaves.

Op.25 n.11: from canniest to uncanniest after the very first bars.

I’m pretty sure all pianists can agree that nocturne op. 9 no. 2 is way way harder than most would think. It is incredibly difficult to nail it because it’s so musically demanding. I would say valse brilliante is actually easier
Edit: I would also say that the coda from ballade no. 1 is actually the very hardest Chopin phrase ever written, it’s not as technically challenging as his etudes, but there is so much musical potential, and it’s just so hard to phrase correctly, as well as being super technically challenging
