Hiwatt caught up with Elder in Sheffield for the HRH Doom Vs Stoner Festival and a spot of record shopping.

Frontman Nick DiSalvo sat down with us at Record Junkee to talk about his Hiwatt rig, Elder's musical influences and how Hiwatt became his signature sound.

Thank you so much for highlighting this band. I've been a big fan for a while now and think they are brilliant. Nick's tone is wonderful. Articulate, open, warm and heavy sounds. It always stood out to me from other bands in the genre as it has something extra. And now I find out that something extra is a Hiwatt. Great stuff.

I had the privilege of meeting Nick at a show they played in Boise. He was just hanging out outside the venue with the band and I introduced myself to him and told him I came from out of town and he thanked me for coming out. I later went up to him when he was selling merch at the merch table and asked if I could take a picture with him. Not only did he agree, but he was extremely happy to. I chatted with him for a bit about how long he had been playing guitar and how he got into playing stoner metal. So awesome that the guy was so open to talking to and interacting with fans. I can tell he finds a lot of meaning in inspiring people with his music. Real awesome and inspirational dude.

If you are new to Elder, just know that they are an absolutely phenomenal band! They are on another level! Saw them last month with Belzebong in Hamtramck (just outside of Detroit), Michigan. So trippy and dreamy. Their music takes you to another state, no drugs needed! Bravo!

Elder is Beyond any Genre-Yes 2007 they start off as a Stoner Rock outfit but These Dudes are constantly Evolving.I picked up The Gold & Silver Session's(2019)-Holy Shit-This was a revelation to me.Illusory Motion sounds like the state of ONENESS-complete Zen, Optimistic Ecstatic Satisfaction of Vibration's.Yeah-Their that Fuckin' Great-They have @ times a Lush Psychedelic organic atmosphere & then hit you w/ Blisstering Rock Overload.Gotta see them live/My Favorite "new" band. Di Salvo weaves some of the most incredible guitar force heard in a long time...
