I like these new lyrics! It doesn’t erase the role the other woman played in trying to entice her man away, but it gives him an equal role as the one who let himself be led astray. And like someone said the lines are more poetic :)

People reacting to Taylor's lyrics from 2010: "Wow this is so problematic. Taylor is such a hypocrite for claiming to support women!"
People reacting to Taylor's new lyrics in 2023: "Aw I miss the original lyrics. Political correctness has gone too far! I'm heartbroken that she changed it."

this was such a glitter gel pen song and she added a fountain pen lyric to it

I think people are exaggerating. Taylor said herself she regretted the lyric, and I think this version captures how much her songwriting has improved.

I like the new version more, just like Taylor said a man can not be stolen from you if he isn't willing to be taken. And a girl can always try to flirt with a taken man but in the end it is him that decides if he wants to be unloyal and "stolen"

The old one is Iconic but I feel like the new one has more meaning to it in a weird way like it feels more poetic and beautiful ❤

why are people in the comments acting like people MADE her change the lyrics when it’s obvious that she no longer likes lyrics and has thought that for a while 😭 especially with the amount of slut shaming she’s received throughout her career since

I like both! The old version captures teenage bitterness while the new lyrics are poetic.

The person she's pleasing is herself. She wants her lyric to show her growth as a person. Also, it's a better lyric.

Anybody else find this better and more poetic?

the old lyrics really highlighted how it was a revenge song, where the new lyrics make you realize that this is a song written by Taylor.

I like, "when you still think a girl can steal your boyfriend." If he lets himself get snagged he was never yours and not worth the energy ❤✌🏻

Nah when me and my friend were younger we used to think it was "for the things she's done in gymnastics woah" 😭😭

It’s not about being a pathological people pleaser, it’s more about self-improvement

Well, same thing happened to Paramore about misery business. For a while Haley didn’t want to perform the song, then she changed the overall meaning of the song by telling her audiences how she sees the song in anew evolved meaning.. I can’t explain well enough. Lol anyways Haley and Taylor are close friends so they probably chatted about it.

She changed the lyrics based on her own views. Her fans didn’t MAKE her change anything. The new lyrics are more poetic and powerful.
