STEVE PRISKE Model Ship Portfolio

Показать описание
This video shows some of the ship models I've built over the past 40 years. Some models have been used in major motion pictures and popular TV shows, others are on display in corporate offices and restaurants, the rest are seen in museums and private collections. All model ships are scratch built, plank on frame/bulkhead style models. Some models (such as the Clipper Ship Western Shore) were built from unearthed original shipyard blueprints. Hawaiian history expert Herb Kawainui Kane provided me his personal blueprints for the Polynesian - Hawaiian war catamarans. The tall ship models average 4 and half feet long from tip of bow sprite to tip of spanker boom; about 5 feet long and 4 feet tall in display cases. I often use Myrtle wood for the ships mounting base (wild grown Myrtle wood is only found in Israel and southwestern Oregon, is incredibly attractive and each piece is totally unique - I select wood patterns the emote the feeling of moving water). Models are encased in plexiglass covers with brass historic plaques. I like to display the ships over a glass mirror so admirer's can see fine details reflected in mirror as well as looking at model straight on. Steve Priske - Model Shipwright & Maritime Historian.
