This came out in October 1995 and blew my god damn mind when it originally aired. EVERYONE was talking about this episode because it was the most impressive display of 3D on a TV show ever seen.

For years I thought this was just a weird dream I had when I was 6

Fun fact: He is at LA, couple blocks from Matt's studio.

I love how self-aware this show is. Everyone getting shocked that 3 dimensions exist was priceless.

I remember when I was little I saw this; and when Homer landed inside the dumpster at the end and started to walk around afraid, I got so sad for him that I started to cry.

The end where he’s in the real world freaked me out as a kid.
Like the way homers legit afraid and knowing there’s no way back now. I had an existential crisis in my head hahahaha

This is genuinely the only Treehouse of Horror segment that actually scared me. Something about Homer falling through the void to our world is incredibly eerie

"I wish I read that book by that wheelchair guy" LOL

This scene made me cry when I was younger. Think it's because Homer was out of his safe version of life and thrust into the 'real world' and was overwhelmed by it. Very relatable.

Freaking impressive to see a CGI Homer in the real world. Especially in 1995 lol

In that episode Homer said "I feel like I'm costing a fortune just standing here." It's funny how this really did cost a fortune just a couple of decades ago but now this would be some low-rent animation that a student could make in their bedroom.

They should've used this concept in the movie when they had to escape from Springfield instead of that sandbox.

I always feel sad for Homer. He's lost his family and his life, no way to return home.

The fact that this episode was made in the same year as Toy Story but premiered before Toy Story is absolutely insane!

You have to give Bart points for at least trying his best to save Homer. It did have a happy ending for Homer.
