3 Endangered Animals That Are Being Annihilated By Invasive Cats

Invasive species are one of the leading causes of extinctions worldwide and this is why governments try so hard to control them. Unfortunately some people like to villainize invasive species and they treat them badly just because they are invasive. It's not the animals fault that it's invasive and it is simply just trying to survive. One of the worst invasive species in the world is the domesticated cat as these animals are responsible for hundreds if not thousands of extinctions. In this video i will be covering a few cases where cats are preying on endangered species and unfortunately some of these animals are close to extinction.

"There are cats out there. They can't be bargained with. They can't be reasoned with. They don’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And they absolutely will not stop... ever, until you are dead."

Feral cats (along with foxes) are also a major threat to the little penguin in Australia.

I love cats 🐈‍⬛, it’s very sad & very unfortunate that irresponsible humans have allowed them to become invasive creatures causing harm. Sucks badly but protecting the native habitats is priority 😢

Btw 4 feral cats hang out on my property. Crazy cat ladies feed them and have them spayed. But I no longer have squirrels or birds around.

Here in nz i was walking up a mountain we were three quarters the way up and I saw a wild cat I've also seen them in the bush like far in to the bush and the fact that they're there is so depressing.

So sad that human intervention has destroyed so much of native Australian & New Zeeland species.
BTW: It's always nice to see Arnie at the end of your videos. I bet he's a good boy!

Video idea: invasive species which were not introduced by humans

Can you please do a ranking of the most endangered feared and misunderstood animals?

I hate people who defend cats saying "Oh it's just nature.", yes I know they're an animal but it's not their fault they were even there to begin with. I like cats but I hate what they do to the native fauna. I remember stating my opinion on outdoor cats and I got attacked by a bunch of cat people defending cats and saying things to me like "Bro's mad at nature." and "Cry about it, dog person.", I have zero hope in the world sometimes...

It’s fine to keep a cat, but keep it indoors. lI don’t understand people who let them run free.

thank you for talking about this. I also know that even tho cats can be a problem it is still not their fault and I'm glad that you're always reminding people that introduced species are not evil. People also need to remember that eventually an introduced species will integrate into the food web of a new environment and the native species will adapt to introduced species while said introduce species will eventually evolve into a new separate species. Sure it normally takes millions of years but, that's not always the case. Something it takes just a couple of generations. Which is why I think the best way to deal with the problem is to keep native species around long enough for them to adapt to the introduced species so that way they can both coexist with each other without any or at least minimal negative side effects. In Australia some scientists are already doing this by teaching Bilbies, wallabies, and bandicoots to avoid cats better in controlled areas and it seems to be working. They reason why they're doing this is because they know that they will never get rid of cats completely so the only other alternative is teach the natives to adapt to the foreign species and think that's a way better strategy than to kill off introduced species completely.

Cats' impact on Dolphins could/ should be looked at too. Particularly Maui and Hectors Dolphin. If you can get your hands on a book called something like "WildSouth", it discussed how cats almost wiped out the last of the Kākāpo Parrots

As you mentioned about feral cats in Australia, due to the lack of predation from larger carnivores other than the Dingo, feral cats are actually starting to grow larger thanks to the lack of competition and become "Super Sized".

There are basically no toads where I live in the U.S. now. I remember there being tons of them throughout where I live. Now I can't even tell you the last time I've seen one.

Cats are basically SS Storm Troopers of the animal kingdom 😂

I'm afraid that the message is very slow to get through in New Zealand. We have one of the highest rates of cat ownership per capita and I get tired of hearing that 'they are only doing what's natural. And that it's unkind and unnatural to confine them. I personally love cats and can never resist saying hi to one that I meet on the road, while thinking how terrible it is that this animal is wandering around killing our wildlife - and as you say, more than 'just' our birds. I would never own a cat here, much as I would really like to have one.

Cats really are the definition of pretty privilege huh? Also did anyone else see an extremely long, extremely pissed of comment here?

It's crazy how massively impactful Cats have been. We don't see them as such but they are very successful predators. I wonder what types of cats will evolve from them way down the line

@TsukiCove, Did you know that feral cats in Australia are actually getting big enough to be mistaken for either a black panther or mountain
Do you believe we have big cats roaming around the Australian bush?
