"The Dacia Logan MCV estate has a clear purpose for being – it's the cheapest estate car you can buy, and offers loads of space for not much money. It's basic and cheap, but it's still dependable and should be reliable, thanks to the fact it is made by parent company, Renault."

A brand new family estate car for under 7 grand and with up to 5 years warranty. Can't knock it who cares it doesn't have all the bells and whistles. it's cheap reliable transportation for the working man. I mean why get yourself indebted up to the eyeballs just to have a flash car.

Say anything you want about this Dacia, but at least it has a proper spare wheel, unlike my 3-times more expensive car.

I ask anyone who has the time and means, to make a comparative analysis of both Dacia's "cheap plastic" and VW Golf "tremendous, fine, smooth, fantastic, plastic". Perhaps I am subjective, but from my experience, the differences are soooo liiiitle that I consider that this aspect should be excluded from the reviews. Don't come out with "VW plastic is soft, Dacia's not" because it is totally irrelevant. When you're behind the wheel, you're there to drive, not to fondle the dashboard...

I understand that Carbuyer is trying to show us a really cheap car to buy and run, with huge amount of space, and so on. But do they really need to get the basic/entry level version? I think they're kinda underestimating the potential of this car... I'm pretty sure that a lot of daily carrying situations will fit on it just fine, but surely with higher specs it will be much, much better.
PS: I'm not a Dacia fan.

This is like a brand new old car. There's something pleasant about it.

This is not a proper review anyway. If somebody wants a more expensive car, then he should look somewhere else. But, in real world and in that price range, Dacia is unbeatable. I have a 2009 Logan 1, 6MPI petrol engine with 180.000 km. It served me as a company car and after that I bought it for my wife as a personal car. In 5 years I haven`t had any mechanical or electrical problems with it.
Last month I`ve been to Istanbul and was driven by a Logan 1, 5 dCi Taxi car which had ~749.000 km on board. Taxi driver said that he had no extra maintenance done except standard one and he had no problems with the car, whatsoever. Now I am driving as a company car Dacia Doker 1, 5 dCi full option, (ABS, ESP, Navi, Bluetooth car kit included, etc) passenger version and already have 70.000 km in 1, 5 years. No problem what so ever. Again, If somebody wants a VW, Audi or Mitsubishi, then this is not a car for him. But, if you want a decent equipped working horse which will keep going without repairs, than you should look also this brand.

For under 12k you can get the top of the range model in a decent colour with satnav and alloy wheels, that include electric windows and reversing sensors. Even though that is quite a jump in price, it would be ALMOST impossible to buy a brand new estate from any other company with those extras for the same price. The car is cheap but it works

just had my new Logan diesel this week the wife had a citroen c1 that car had appalling build quality clutch and waterpump at 16k door locks wore out at 29k leaked water everywhere, a shocking car which i was glad to get rid of . This is better built, better mpg, more power, better standard equipment, it does what it says on the tin. To many badge snobs i want a car to get me from A to B . Yes i may be a moron in some peoples eyes but i love the Logan.

It gets bad rep for being cheap rather than being bad, shows how stupid people are. Sure the entry level one is utter crap (no equipment + bad engine) but the Lauréate TCe90 which doesn't cost that much is enough car for most people, it also doesn't look that bad once you get alloys and another color than white, I think it actually looks good. If you are on a budget, this is actually a great car (except the base models), maintaining it is cheap, insurance is cheap, you've got a warranty and there isn't much to go wrong.

I do not own a Dacia but I do know people who do and they love them for what they are : Cheap yet purposeful tools.

So much haters, but ignorants don't know that Dacia is the most reliable and cheap to repair, keep and insure in whole Europe, best value for money

There's a few things I dont agree with here. We have had our Logan MCV for 1 year now using it as a family workhorse. We got the top spec model with the turbo petrol engine. It has full electric windows, cruise control with speed limiter, touch screen satnav stereo, height adjustment in the seat and steering wheel and hill start assist. We could've optioned leather interior but chose not to. This review highlights the negatives of the basic spec but doesn't care to mention adding all the options doesn't cost THAT much more. The interior is actually very well put together, yes the materials are budget but the quality is still very good. On long trips on the motorway its no worse than similarly priced small cars in terms of ride comfort and harshness. Show me another brand new car that can do all that at the same price. I would much rather be in a car that uses tried and tested Renault parts than any of these new budget Korean brands which are more expensive and don't have any history or culture in building reliable cars. And to everyone who says just buy a car 3-4 years old, that's fine, I drive an old Toyota but there is something about having a brand new car with no miles on it that gives you some extra peace of mind and its rather nice to know it hasn't had someone elses dirty hands on it lol.

Does she drive to work in a Rolls Royce? Moan, moan, moan... it's a budget car FFS! I personally don't mind wind-up windows!

Why everytime there's a Dacia on review, the guy/gal concentrates on the negative points, the quality is awfull, the interior is cheap, the comfort is non existent, blah blah blah... WE GET IT, we should all buy a freakin VW Golf wich only costs TWICE as much. Well guess what, the vast majority of europeans love Dacia products, as they are sold by THE MILLIONS. Not everybody earns 5000 € a month like in Britain... F***K !!!

I have been waiting for a Logan review for ages! You are comparing it to more expensive cars such as the Seat. It's funny how everyone who owns one, like myself, say it's really good value considering how much it costs. I agree the access isn't exactly 'well equipped' but look how much you are paying! There isn't a new car you CAN compare it too.

ive got one of these and its brilliant does everything I ask like camping trips, work runs and the shopping with ease and despite its size and only having the 3 cylinder its quicker than all my friends cars to, so glad I bought it nearly 6000 miles in 2 months and not a single problem. (would recommend boot nets though as the boot is so large shopping can spill around if not carful)

Would totally recommend to someone who's priorities are saving money and a car that does the job as well as having tinted windows!!

Had one as a rental in iceland, it was pretty impressive for such a cheap car.

I've been driving the top spec diesel model for an year now (the top-spec in Romania costs about 12000 euros - about 4-5000 euros less than in UK). In the past year I had several long trips with it on dodgy roads. After an year, I don't see it just like a big piece of plastic. The interior is decent. The dashboard is from a hard plastic that feels cheap, but actually looks better than it feels. But I don't pet the dashboard so why would I care how it feels?. It has all the decent equipment of an modern car: sat-nav, blue-tooth connection, a usb for your music and a more than decent speaker system (I've seen far worse speakers on way more expensive cars). The ride is only uncomfortable on long rides only because you have to keep your foot on the accelerator pedal (cruise control is an option though). During my trips I learned the limits of my car and learned how to drive it properly to get the maximum out of it. On curvy roads was so fun, even had a Range-Rover behind me that couldn't keep up (he passed me when the road became straight of course). It's damn economical too, 4.5 liters/100 km. It's cheap to maintain. For me at least is just enough. It doesn't excel in anything but has everything.
