You will discover that Glenn Bell (Taco Bell) as well as did David Edgerton and James McLamore (Burger King) purchased The Speedee Service System from the McDonald's Brothers (Prior to Ray Kroc) for about $900 each. Hence why the 3 companies kitchens are set up nearly the same way.

What I really want to hear, is how Glen Bell's voice sounded like. If I remember right, I saw him on TV about 15 to 18 years ago. And that I think he had a very mild Southern drawl and that was wearing a baige or white cowboy hat. Or, maybe that the hat was light brown. But I am looking for videos here on YouTUBE which have him talking. Thank you for sharing this.

The hard shell is called "chalupa" or "tacos dorados" named after the vessels used in Xochimilco in México city, centuries before the Spanish arrived, and frying tortillas was also ancient preparation, basically he marketed an interpretation of Mexican cuisine, sorry

Glenn Bell started several different concepts that failed or he sold. He kept on trying and he hit it big with Taco Bell! He didn’t give up!

Amazing story for Bell himself. Have always loved tacos. Like how they had the building lit on the inside with purple. Fun to see video of the actual moving. Huge for those busy streets.

Dude you left out the beginning of the history. Glen Bell served in the USMC as a cook during WWII. This obviously inspired him to open his first restaurant.
