The long wait for track doubling at Kottayam to end soon.
The long-awaited track doubling of the Chingavanam-Ettumanur route of the Railways will be completed on May 28. The major work of connecting the tracks began on Friday morning that is on 6 May 2022.
All train services during this time via Kottayam will be halted or diverted for convenience and undisrupted work.

The Commission of Rail Safety will inspect the tracks on May 23. A CRS
inspection will be conducted.
The Kottayam- Nilambur Road Express will begin service from Ernakulam Town from May 6 to 29.
The service of Nilambur Road-Kottayam Express will be partially cancelled between Ernakulam Town to Kottayam from May 6 to 29. Many other trains will be regulated and bridged as considered necessary.
The restrictions include total cancellation of 21 trains, including popular services such as Island Express, Parasuram Express, Jan Shatabdi Express and Venad Express, on various days from May 20.
The Railway also informed that the Palaruvi Express would depart from Palakkad at 5.20 pm on May 23, 24, 25 and 27 and at 5.35 pm on May 26.
