This song is so well written. It tells the whole fugitive story, from the fugitives perspective, in great detail, and yet the story is not missing a thing and it comes to completion, perfectly! So very well written! I have always loved this song, and I will until my last breath. 😊❤️

When my 72 Chevelle was about a year old I was in Tarpon Springs Florida and I was impressed because I pulled over and some girls were hand washing the blue Chevelle for a fund raiser. They noticed my indiana license plates and started singing this song. I'll never forget that. Last night I saw a new set of tires by our Christmas tree with a red big bow. My daughter just bought me a set of brand new tires for the same Chevelle that those girls were singing Indiana Wants Me. Yep, that was around 1973 and yes I still have the car. I wish those girls would Wash it now singing this song. Listening to this takes me back to that time in my life when life was beginning. Now I'm much older and so is my Chevelle. The damned car makes me feel young because of the memories! LoL

The 70s music will put you on another planet that no one will understand unless you have a love of the 70s music. You don't need drugs or alcohol to appreciate the best music ever. God....take me back to the 70s and leave me there....I'll be just fine.

In 1970, I was 10. My parents took me and my 2 brothers out of school for the whole month of September and we drove from Long Island, NY to California and back visiting friends and family and seeing America along the way. All we had was am radio and that year every station had this song in heavy rotation, along with songs like Vanity Fair’s Hitchin’ a Ride, CCR’s Lookin’ Out My Back Door, and Tony Orlando & Dawn’s Knock Three Times. All those songs and this one always bring back great memories of that trip. Good times for a ten year old kid and a 61 year old man.

This song was a hit during my first year in jr high. As a 12 year old girl I couldn't imagine anything more heartbreaking than this story, and I've never forgotten it.

An oldie-but-goodie that should be played much more often today.

I haven't heard this song in over 47-48 years. The words came to me this morning and I had to see if someone had downloaded it. What memories.

Man this song takes me back 52 years. I used to sit by the radio hoping this song would come on. I bet I called the radio station I listened to daily and requested this song.

My favourite Canadian song of all time. Many, many memories for me in this song. The best song of 1970 in my opinion.
