Artificial Breeding Of Salmon EXPLAINED

Why is this guy cutting open a fish and scooping out its eggs? Well, this is part of the artificial breeding of salmon. The process starts with carefully opening the belly of a female salmon to collect the eggs. Next, the eggs are fertilized with sperm, also called milt, from a male salmon. The fertilized eggs are then placed in incubation tanks with controlled water temperature and oxygen levels to mimic natural conditions. While some salmon are raised for food to meet global demand, others are released into rivers to support wild populations

Before you wonder why they cut them open it is because when salmon lays eggs they almost immediately die afterwards so to speed the process they cut the salmon open so it can be quicker

I mean to be fair, salmon would die after laying eggs and spaying the sperm. So this just ends up being a more manual way of doing it. Does make for a lower mortality rate with it being a controlled environment
