This talk should be required listening for every new puppy/dog handler! I’ve been fortunate to have dogs in my family for as long as I can remember but still have learned an incredible amount from this talk. I agree having dogs does not make you an expert. Didn’t even realize some of the mistakes I was making. We recently added 2 border collie puppies to our family and want to give them the best chance to be happy confident well trained dogs, and I’m so grateful for Nate’s videos to help me do that. This talk with Nate and Bethany is amazing, so packed with valuable advice...thank you both 🥰

Felt like cheering when you said you choose the pup for the family, as the breeder. I wish more breeders did this instead of letting people choose based on coat color when they're 2 days old (and I'm just a buyer, not a breeder).

I could feel myself getting a little stuck on one training "style". I so appreciate all the knowledge, and love of dogs that's shown here. I'm preparing for the next 10 to 12 years with my third Rottie. I'm having trouble finding puppy classes during this time, but apart from that, she's coming along. That's how I feel about myself as a novice and first time dog owner with a GSD now 10- month pup. I've forced myself to learn so much about training, behaviours etc due to his dog reactivity.

Your conversation about breeders at 1.5 hours...I LOVE German Shepherds. I went to Brittany's website after your podcasts, she breeds Belgian Tervs. I'd strongly consider a Belgian Terv from her breeding program, even though my heart is owned by GSDs.
