The 2023 Nissan Altima SR Turbo Is A Sporty Family Sedan With A Bad Reputation

The #NissanAltima has always been a solid Japanese alternative to the well-known Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. Sadly for #Nissan, the #Altima has had its reputation faltered thanks to a certain Facebook group called #BigAltimaEnergy where it shows photos and videos of Altima drivers doing very naughty things on the roads. It’s a shame because the latest #AltimaSR with the turbo engine is actually a really good car for buyers looking for a sporty family sedan with tons of power.

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you are having a great start to your holiday weekend! Even though the Altima gets so much hate for its reputation, it is still a great driving and very appealing midsize family sedan. Would BAE stop you from buying one of these?

Can't wait to be cut off by these in the future...

I already seen this refresh model on the road with the bumper held on by tape and a spare wheel on the front right side. Altima drivers are something else.

Thanks for including BAE speed in specs, that's important to know for other drivers on the road. 😂

If Nissan is so bad as you all claim it to be, why haven’t they declared bankruptcy or went out of business long time ago? They are doing very well financially under new management and no longer under Renault partnership. That should tell you something. Nissan is right up there with Toyota and Honda when it comes to reliability and I could careless what you all think. I drive a 2012 Nissan Sentra S with over 272, 000 miles on the original CVT and never had an issue with it. I’m going to continue driving it til the wheels fall off. No matter what you all say, Nissan is a good brand despite all the hate it gets.

When I visited the U.S. back in December 2022, I rented a pre-facelift Nissan Altima SR. I genuinely loved it for how nicely designed it was inside and out. It was comfortable, peppy and had a good range of features. The only downside was the CVT, which really showed how awful it was under load. Other than that, it was a close to perfect car to me which is strange as I am someone who loves and daily's a full-size RWD V6 with a proper automatic plus has a midsized AWD manual turbo sedan for the weekend fun.

To be fair, Nissan and Bad are pretty synonymous with one another.

It's important to show this car in its brand new state because within a few weeks, the bumper will be held on by duct tape and the wheels will be curbed.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Nissan but with Ghosn out of the picture I can definitely tell Nissan has been putting in effort to improve the company

i don't think Nissan is going to be able to shed the reputation. That's the risk they took when they went to the bottom of the barrel of car buyers.

Nissan Altima: the Waffle House of mid-size sedans, because like a Waffle House at 2 am....when you see an Altima, you know some shit is about to happen

The whole Altima reputation is news to me; I live and drive in the midwest everyday and Altimas for one are not that common here and those that drive them are usually pretty chill. There's no shortage of aggressive or dumb drivers around here but most often they're driving pickup trucks, big SUVs, newer muscle & pony cars, Kia & Chrysler sedans and of course BMWs. Nissan drivers in general are pretty normal in their ways, especially those driving newer models. I guess it depends a lot on the region.

I didn’t even know the Facebook group existed. I just know that 75% of Altimas I see on the road are doing 20mph+ above the speed limit and tailgating everyone regardless of traffic. They deserve the hate. I also see plenty of other vehicles as rentals, but none of them have the same bad reputation as an Altima. It’s just the truth…

I rather work a little extra and get myself a Camry Le hybrid 😅

The Altima has some good attributes as does all of its peer group, the big problem comes down to three letters CVT, specifically the one Nissan uses. There are tons of horror stories of these things breaking before 100K miles. Nissan could do itself a huge favor and replace the CVT with the new 9 speed, the rest of the package is really good.

Love your reviews as always. Just picked up a 2024 Altima SR 2.5 FWD in gray sky pearl.

Enjoy most everything about it: Full LED front headlights... aggressive styling.. great MPG around town and commuting....
Although .. . the seats are nowhere near as comfy as my 20*13* Altima 3.5 the lack of homelink/dimming mirror drives me insane.

The backup cam looks as if it copy pasted from my 2013 which is a shame.

As long as Nissan utilizes the CVT transmission, I think that will always put it a step below other cars in terms of their transmission lifespan.
