Cervena Barva Press Reading Series with Ann Bookman and Jennifer Martelli

Bios:
Ann Bookman is a poet, anthropologist and social justice advocate. Her poems have been published in Valparaiso Poetry Review, Soul-Lit: A Journal of Spiritual Poetry, Chronogram, and Dogwood: A Journal of Poetry and Prose, among others. In 2012, she published a chapbook, "Point of Attachment," with Finishing Line Press. Her first full collection, "Blood Lines," was recently published by Kelsay Books.

Jennifer Martelli is the author of "The Queen of Queens" and "My Tarantella," named a “Must Read” by the Massachusetts Center for the Book. Her work has appeared in Poetry, The Academy of American Poets Poem-a-Day, Thrush, and elsewhere. Jennifer Martelli has twice received grants for poetry from the Massachusetts Cultural Council. She is co-poetry editor for Mom Egg Review.

I enjoyed listening to this reading - Ann and Jennifer are both powerful writers whose work focuses on current concerns that affect both women and our society. Their poems gave me a lot to think about during this tumultuous week. I look forward to reading more of their poetry.
