My second great grandpa learned English on his trip via the ss Bordeaux when he was a teenager.. he was one of the 20 stowaways.. he was found and made the dr.s cabin boy.. his first language is Portuguese.. just learning english gave him the leg up when he got to hawaii.. instead of going to the Portuguese work camps he married my 2nd great grandmother mary kauihanohano luahiwa Nicholas of koloa kauai.. she was native hawaiian and spanish and chamorran and chilean and nigerian and indigenous mexican.. her father was from spanish guam her mother also from kauai.. i come from all kinds of immigrants.. all over the world.. its weird to say im second generation german american.. im 5th generation Portuguese American.. well that one is tricky because when my 2nd great grandmother Mary kauihanohano luahiwa Nicholas was born she was a hawaiian kingdom citizen. My great grandpa Benjamin dasilva wasnt.. hawaii was a republic when he was born.. and hawaii wasnt even a state when my grandmother was born.
So really i dont know how to calculate my portuguese american heritage.. but my point is.. all my immigrant ancestors didn't just come here.. they married the locals as well.. even my german grandmother married my native american grandpa.. my irish grandfather did the same.. i have such a big family.. im related to half the planet.. people of all different colors and races.. and im grateful for it.. i can feel my connection.. the view is so strange to me.. everything they present is sooo biased.. it was like watching sonny hostin find out shes "white".. as if white and black are even races.. last i checked these were archaic beliefs thats why yellow red and brown arent considered races nor ethnicities.. i mean come on. Im literally multiracial yet my birth certificate says im "white".. we dont even have proper race based demographics in this country but these ladies are always pushing this racist colorist narrative.. notice how they cant fail to mention how "brown" he is.. its their whole personality.. sorry but my dna and my actual heritage says im not "white".. thats just a description that cops use to identify people and you dumb dumbs doubled down and now its accepted as a race.? For fucks sake.. #makeoctober8again the dumbing down is real..
