MASSIVE PARTY!! Our FIRST Mexican Independence Day!

This weekend we experienced our FIRST Military Parade and Mexican Independence Day in Guadalajara, MX.

We could HARDLY WAIT to experience our first Mexican Independence Day (dia de la independencia) since beginning our travels in Mexico.

We spent it in our long-time "home" city, Guadalajara Jalisco. After enjoying how Mexico parties in Downtown GDL, we woke up the next morning to watch the Military Parade (desfile militar) on Avenida Chapultepec.

Although we're sad we were right in the square for El Grito the night before, we still enjoyed the party in Guadalajara Mexico. Our first holiday in México was a huge success! We are already counting down the days until Dia de la Independencia next year. Maybe we can see how Mexico parties in Mexico City next time!

ABOUT US (MADDIE & JORDAN)
In January 2018, we sold everything we owned in the US (except our husky Laska & what fit in our tiny, tangerine Prius C3) to travel the world—starting with Mexico. Since then, we've been making travel videos about our life in Mexico and the new experiences we encounter while traveling the world. If you'd like to join our shenanigans, subscribe to our YouTube channel. You can also poke around our social media to find out what we’re up to each week.

Because Mexico is never at war, the military is trained to assist in many emergency scenarios... those are the soldiers we've sent to help USA in hurricanes and stuff.

My beautiful country following Spain and The Philippines, Mexico taught me to value everything that I have in life and in living in NY. I never thought that a little boy would make me cry so hard 🥺, seeing so many people trying to make a living out of the smallest things broke my heart and made me realize that I’m sooo fortunate in life . I can’t wait to give my family in Mexico the glory that they deserve

Hi Guys, great video, full of energy and it also shows the positive side of Guadalajara. Sorry you missed "The Grito", it varies from year to year in Guadalajara (from 10 pm to 10:30 pm), it's usually preceded by some kind of artistic event, either Mariachi, Dancing, etc. Each year I'm put in charge of the towers of the Cathedral to keep an eye of another 20 guys, we ring the bells each year (around 20 bells, from 1 ton to 9 tons average and from years dating from 1661 to 1882 ) just as soon as the governor rings his, as a signal for the fireworks to start (although this year they asked us to ring them differently along with the fireworks); I think saw you downtown close to the gazebo, thought faces look familiar", I wasn't sure first but with this video I can confirm it was you....glad you had a great time, once again I'm sorry you missed the actual "Grito" and I commend you for your love of México and to show it as it actually is, if next year you're around for another "grito" in Guadalajara I'd be glad to take you up there to the towers for a very different and experience of it. You have a great channel, wish it keeps growing :)

One thing that I noticed that is really beneficial to me in particular...I watch while I'm working out on the elliptical machine at the gym and I have increased my workout time by 30 minutes. That's because I am busy watching you guys. I love it. Peace.

Great video! It's fun to experience these events from your perspective. Although you missed El Grito, you still experienced the wonderful music, food, drink and energy of the night. Also, the military parade looked like it was worth the effort of getting up early. Impressive that not only all the military branches (with crisp uniforms), but also the firefighters, K9 units, forestry workers and the golden eagles. Thanks!

Hi!! Great you keep enjoying Mexico!! Our next big holiday is DIA DE MUERTOS!! if you guys want to really enjoy it, you should go to Morelia in the state of Michoacan and the surroundings of lake patzcuaro, or in Mexico city! We are since the James Bond movie making a dia de muertos parade in Mexico city, but if its too far away for you, go to Morelia, beautiful place to be for those days and see the ofrendas and our traditions, and its not that far away from Guadalajara.

Hola amigos.
No sé si vayan a leer ésto, espero que sí.
Si quieren vivir una verdadera experiencia de fiestas patrias, el grito y el desfile, no hay mejor ciudad para vivir esa experiencia como la Ciudad de México. Se los aseguro.

God, I enjoy watching people travel and enjoy life while I'm stuck at work, trying my best not to punch someone in the throat. So I can keep paying my bills. oilfield life sucks 😶

I'm from Guadalajara. I moved to Canada three years ago. It's very interesting to see you discover my beautiful city. Even though your videos make me homesick I really enjoy them.

This review brought us a lot of memories. My wife and I got married in January 1996 living in Cabo San Lucas. In September we flew to Guadalajara to spend my birthday on September 15 and for my wife to see Jalisco for the first time. We visited Chapala, Ajijic, Tlaquepaque, Tonalá and Guadalajara. We stayed downtown GDJ and as you did, enjoyed the Independence celebrations, 'El Grito' on the eve of the 15th and the Military parade on September 16. Thank you for sharing your experience.
