I decided to change careers based off skills I wished to see at work. I wanted to work somewhere that expected their employees to communicate properly, have proper time management skills, and hold their employees accountable for things instead of blaming it on someone who had nothing to do with it. I also wanted a place that gave u scheduled hours. I don’t want to come into work at 8 and not know what my day is going to look like at all or know when I was going to be allowed to leave.
My old job lied to me during my interview. They told me I would be working 8 hour days but I was working 12 hour days. And u didn’t always get a break. It was horrible.

As a wannabe long-term freelancer (or locum, in my line of work), this is brilliant advice.

I kind of worked it out for myself, but to hear it articulated so clearly is really helpful.

Thank you, Erin. 🙏🏻

Toxic environment?! Oh, places like that would exist.

The notion of “job security” is a myth at best for many. Personally, I stopped factoring that in.

"Freelancer in the film industry" ... is that what they are calling non-union porn actresses?
