Marcus Aurelius was such a great man i wish i could go back in time and meet him to tell him how greatful i am for his meditations and how much so many others are aswell him and Epictetus are my top 2 favorite stoic philosophers

I wonder if that's true or if Marcus had him low-key executed and maintained this public face of clemency/forgiveness. The same thing happened a few months ago in Russia when that one general tried to stage a coup against Putin and failed. He died in a magic plane crash two months later and Putin obviously denied any involvement. But, anyway, this is a nice story/idea in any case, whether or not it's true.

I often wonder what people in ancient times would do if faced with similar situations that we find ourselves in. How did they handle these things? How would they handle things in our times? What went through the mind of Socrates when he was told he would be executed? How did he come to accept not only what was to happen to him, but what had happened to him that led to him being executed in the first place?

You keep getting high on opiates cause that’s what Marcus did. Galen complained about it in his texts. It’s easy to hold these virtues when you’re stoned to the gills all day.
