I'm just a middle-class person, and a HUGE attraction of cruising, years ago, was that I could be treated like someone special on a cruise. The service was fantastic, the food was great, and the entertainment was top-notch, with a different show every night in the main theater. There was a chocolate on my pillow every night. It was lovely. These days, with the separate areas and special services for those people spending a LOT more money and less and less for the rest of the passengers, it isn't so special any more, but the price keeps rising while we get less.

I’m not a show person. But the cutbacks, smaller portions, and “convenience fees” are turning NCL into a failboat

Thank you for speaking out about this change! The change will definitely affect which cruise line we use.

Just got back from an Alaska cruise on the NCL Bliss and I was very disappointed. The employees just don’t have the “sparkle” and desire to help that they had before. I had several issues when I checked in; they eventually were resolved, but the issues should not have happened. Now, I do not fault the employees and I made that perfectly clear when I submitted my survey to NCL. Corporate management has cut costs so much that the cabin stewards don’t have time to properly turnover the cabins. Guest Services and Housekeeping are swamped because passengers are disgruntled. Maybe someday I will go back to NCL, but not anytime soon. I sincerely hope NCL corporate pulls their heads out of their smokestack before it is too late for them. You can have all of the Prima class ships you want, but people will stop booking if the service isn’t there. They have too much competition.

When I was on the Norwegian Prima the theater was so small that the Donna Summer show sold out within minutes of boarding starting. On a ship that holds roughly 3K guests, that's inexcusable. Cruise ships that size have been doing shows for decades that all passengers can get to enjoy. They were so proud of this new theater where the seats fold away and it becomes a dance floor. But if that inconveniences your paying guests, is it really such a good thing?

Bummer news - I think you’re right. NCL is trying to save money.

Definitely don't see myself cruising with NCL in the future!!

Having Broadway shows might have been a reason to travel on NCL. However, cancelling them adds one more nail in the coffin of why we have never sailed on NCL.

Hi Don. We were on NCL Joy a couple weeks ago and we saw FOOTLOOSE. It was GREAT. So sad to hear it will be eliminated. I doubt any substitute they make will not compare.

As a business person I agree with you. This is a total cost cutting measure at the expense of those customers who are scheduled to sale with NCL. I did my first and LAST NCL cruise a few months ago and I felt them to be cheap and tacky when it came to trying to upsell on the ship. I had a drink package and they still charged me three different times. I had to go to guest services 5 times to fix it. The only thing I was impressed with were the shows. However, if that is now being cut back I can't give them points for anything now.

I agree with conducting Game Shows during mid-day hours.

They're trying to save money but they have forgotten the part of the reason why people go on a cruise, to be entertained.

Just when I thought Carnival was the biggest mess on the seas, NCL has to try and beat them. Man. NCL is a train wreck right now.

I agree 💯 %
And we are a Sapphire member! What a shame.
We’re booked on the Viva in Nov 2023 for back to back from Rome to Miami.
I still have until July 9th to cancel without penalty and I think I will cancel.
Thank you for keeping us in the loop of the latest updates. The shows are extremely important to me as well.

I'm with you. One of the reasons we cruise NCL is for the Broadway entertainment. Dropping what we really enjoy now, for unnamed, mystery "exciting change" that we'll hear about sometime later and have on the ships who-knows-when is asking for more "trust me" than I've got to give based on their other recent cuts in stateroom service, dining room menus, and Free-At-Sea perks. I'm thinking nothing good will come from this. We may be looking for another favorite cruise line.

Tell ‘em Don!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 cruise ships should have a MINIMUM of 3 big productions (plus singers, plus game shows, plus other kind of entertainers)!

We have a cruise booked on the NCL Dawn out of Copenhagen in August going around the British Isles. When we booked in 2022 all shows' were included in the package. As we were reviewing cruise details this month we noticed NCL is now charging for some on board shows (Soul Rockin' Nights is now $99 per person) . This was not part of the original package offered by NCL.

While disappointing to lose these shows can we see what they put in place first before we all get our knickers in a bunch .

I have never seen one of the big production numbers. I have been on 2 NCL cruises, but have never seen one. I have been plenty satisfied with most of the entertainment that I have seen on cruise ships.

Get a hotel and spend a week on Broadway where the shows have fixed location. They are far more elaborate than the traveling shows

.
