REKAP ⚾️ Cubs 14-1 Win Over the Nationals - 'Come on folks! Go all in!'

The Cubs sweep another series. The Cubs bludgeoned the Nationals today. It was a 7-1 game going into the 9th and then the Cubs blew it wide open and scored another 7 runs in the final frame.

A number of Cubs had big days at the plate today. Dansby Swanson had 4 hits and an RBI, Isaac Paredes had 2 hits and 3 RBIs, Pete Crow-Armstrong had 3 hits and 2 runs, and Nico Hoerner had 2 hits and 2 RBIs.

Jordan Wicks returned from injury and did a very nice job. He went 5 innings and only gave up 4 hits and 1 run. The bullpen was also fantastic. Keegan Thompson, Shawn Armstrong, and Ethan Roberts combined for 4 innings and only gave up 1 hit combined.

The Cubs moved to 3.5 games behind the Braves for the final Wild Card spot. We'll see what the Braves do tonight.

The Cubs have back-to-back series coming up against the Yankees and the Dodgers. If they go 1-5 over that stretch, they're done. This great stretch of baseball will have been for nothing. This is the problem with the Cubs having played so badly for so long through the middle portion of the season. They're left with zero margin for error in September.

Since July 4th, the Cubs are #1 team in the MLB, not just the NL. If they take 2 games from the Pirates going into the Yankee series, would be feasible and then try avoid a NY sweep even. Braves / Padres need to slow way down.
