Shashi Tharoor Dropped From Palestine Solidarity Meeting After Hamas Remark | SoSouth

MP Shashi Tharoor stirred a controversy after he called the Hamas attackers ‘terrorists’ during his speech in Kozhikode at an Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) rally which was held in solidarity with Palestine.

Following this, the Mahal Empowerment Mission (MEM), a major body of Muslim community, has decided to drop Tharoor from a major Palestine solidarity meet scheduled in Thiruvananthapuram.

MEM secretary Shahjahan Sreekaryam said that when Tharoor made such a remark, it shattered their expectations and despite all the controversy over the remark, Tharoor hasn’t withdrawn his statement or issued a correction. Instead, he justified his statement.

After which the MEM decided to drop him from the meeting.
