In today's Daily Scuba News Mark talks about how scientists found out that some Hammerhead Shark species are in fact vegetarian! How crazy is that... they just love eating seagrass!

First issue I have with this, is that the title says hammerhead sharks, then the host starts to talk about bonnet head sharks. Second issue is the fact that the title says vegetarian. Being omnivorous is not the same as being vegetarian* or herbivorous.

I get the clickbaity aspect of the way YouTube makes you wanna title your videos, but try not to make them factually incorrect

Although I understand why the sharks were killed for this research, it still makes me sad. I am interested by the findings though. Since bonnetheads are often kept in captivity, this information can be applied to bettering their husbandry. Although I loved working with bonnetheads, they were somewhat finicky in terms of care and we did unfortunately lose one to birthing complications. (I will always remember you, Louise!)

Where is PETA when sharks are killed, even if it is for scientific research?
