We arrived at the first open practice of the year. We were told that the track was being resurfaced but we didn't expect a whole new layout.
Now MDTC is now a much faster track with very complex banked flowing corners. It's technically much more difficult and there are several lines which could be taken through every bend thanks to the much wider track which makes for some excellent racing. Much more concrete surrounding the track so it feels a bit like a street circuit.
I took the old girl, a 2006 Hyundai Sonata NF V6 3.3L which struggled a bit with understeer and much tyre squeal. Best lap for the Sonata today was a 1.13.87 - much better than expected completely stock (other than brakes). Strangely this felt like one of my slower laps, proving that there's more speed with accurate cornering rather than slipping, sliding and over driving.
