For the biting, OVER exaggerate how much it hurts. Like go and then pretend to be all sad. He'll quickly learn biting hurts!!

tips for raising a puppy!
-potty train your puppy with a litter box! i did that with mine when he was a puppy. buy murphy a litter box like the ones cats have, but instead of sand, buy him paper pellet litter. those absorb all the pee and in most cases it will sink to the bottom by itself. I know it sounds gross, but if he pees in the house, if you can pick it up easily, collect as much of it as possible, transfer it over to the litter, and kinda force him to smell it and praise him for "peeing in the litter box." You can also put him in the litter box, squat him down so he gets the idea of what to do, then praise him again and give him treats. i potty trained my puppy around two month after having him. make sure the litter box is tall enough so nothing comes out of it, but short enough for him to jump inside.
-it's around this age where he begins teething. usually people buy their puppies rawhide chews for them to bite as they teethe. do NOT buy those. Beef rawhide is bad for their digestive system. instead, try to look for rawhide-free alternatives. i recommend the brand Pork Chomps
-cook him food yourself! brands like pedigree, iams, and beneful, as his vet told us, are considered junk food for dogs. what we do for my dog is cook him ground beef or shredded chicken breast, then shred potato, carrot, and mexican squash. it becomes like a little soup for them. do NOT add any seasoning, it is bad for dogs. If you want to buy good brands of pet food at places like petsmart, i recommend Instinct and Royal Canin. They are expensive, but they are much better brands. make sure the food you buy him is the right size for him and for the right breed
-when he has diarrhea or is vomiting, brew chamomile tea. When it has slightly cooled down, put 10 mL in those little plastic medicine cups that come with bottles like NyQuil or whatever. Add 10 mL of tea, then add around 2 mL of liquid Pepto Bismol and 3 mL of honey. mix it well, then serve it to him at a warm temperature. i use it for my dog because he gets sick a lot.

11:09, yes that was poop, you should buy him pet friendly wipes to remove any poop after he goes, otherwise it will clump on his fur like that. as for his eyes, use your thumb to clean the tear glands, so where the eyes meet the nose. lightly use your thumb nail to clean any eye poop. my dog is one of those crusty white dogs, but we cleaned his and treated him so well he is no longer crusty. since he is half poodle, his eyes will likely crust.

-links for the things i mentioned:
litter boxes can be found almost anywhere :)
hope this helps! enjoy him as a puppy, you'll miss those tiny paw days :(

Tips for washing dogs

1. Try to get a brush that sprays water so u can brush out tangles while washing.

2. Do not pour water on dogs face just lightly put water on your hands and wash face.

3. The dog might end up looking like a rat.

reezy it is SO important that you keep a consistency with training murphy! anyone you live with has to scold or reward him the same way you do. golden doodles are very energetic dogs and require lots of activity. since the dogs history is unknown (at least to us viewers, i would also just say that doodles are known to have some illnesses/defects from poor breeding practices.

i think murphy is precious, and he will do great with a consistent training practice! rewards are also very important; find what motivates him and use that as a reward!

Hey Courtney, only mentioning this advice because I saw no comment mention...

Dry the dog all the way. Some dogs like to be dried in different ways with the towel. My dog is a Maltese. He likes a widespread towel on the floor and you hide your hands under both ends and wipe him from head to tail. He normally gets his stomach on his own, but I do dry his chest and neck (especially behind the ears). Sometimes, he even likes it when I shake the towel from left to right on him while he’s in a playful mood.

Regardless of how, it’s a really good thing for your dog to dry them until they're as dry and fluffy as possible. Some dogs also like to be brushed dry, which helps to get the remaining wet spots. Let him smell the brush to get him familiar with it before use, then start gently. And remember, blow dryers are hot and must stay at a distance.

All the best to you and your precious pooch!

There are some great YouTubers you can find who are pretty much exclusively videos about dogs - raising them, training them, giving them happy healthy lives - and I cannot recommend it enough. A dog is a huge (ideally at least decade-long) commitment and it's awesome that you want to raise Murphy to be the kind of dog that others would warm up to from having a great experience.

There's so many things I would recommend doing, but what I will focus on here is to: learn about the breed, learn about dogs body language, and prepare for the different puppy-adult life stages!

Each breed will have its own Things To Know, ranging from nutrition to exercise needs to personality tendencies to medical conditions they're prone to! For example, golden doodles are usually bigger dogs (though there are smaller ones), that means as they age they're more likely to develop conditions like arthritis. This doesn't guarantee it of course, but it's good to be aware of and to look for those signs, especially when they're older. Golden doodles are a combo of poodles and golden retrievers, so they often can be Really Smart like poodles but also a little neurotic like poodles. They can also often be big people pleasers like golden retrievers, but have a tendency to overeat! Any research you're willing to do to help you get to know your pup is awesome, it won't necessarily 100% apply but it can absolutely be helpful stuff.

Next, dogs body language Is different from humans. While they've actually changed quite a bit for us due to bonding with humans for so long (like how dogs have more Eyebrow muscles than their wolf ancestors because humans have them), they still don't have the same kind of body language that we do. A wagging tail often means they're happy or relaxed of course, but it's great to pay attention to things like body stiffness if they're stressed, whale eye (which is when you can significantly see the whites of their eyes) can indicate some level of worry or stress, making heavy direct eye contact with a dog often can be indicative of tension and dogs can receive it as a Challenge, etc.

Last, all the different life stages! Murph is still quite young so this is generally the time you're gonna be working the hardest. Right now focusing on getting him adjusted to As Many Things As Possible is ideal, all the sounds, smells, sights, touches, etc. This helps him get adjusted to things and not see every new thing as something to be worried and scared about later in life (the challenge is making sure he's not traumatized by a situation of course lol), help him feel secure in himself! Training is also awesome, and I absolutely recommend getting help from professionals because that will give you the extra support you need too to make sure Murphy is the best and happiest dog he can be! This stage where you really want to put in the work can be around 2 years or so, depending on the dog, but you never really stop putting in the work for them. When they're adults you just keep up what they were taught, and as seniors that's when you really wanna pay more attention to any health issues that pop up.

I am not a professional, but I think as long as you care, you will do great. Don't be afraid to look things up or ask questions, you got this! Welcome to the family Murphy!

One thing I recommend is desensitizing them to certain sounds! Playing YouTube videos of storm sounds, fireworks, doorbells, etc at a low volume and rewarding them can help them become more comfortable with these events as they grow into adulthood.

Previous doggy daycare attendant here! The tips in the comments are really good, especially the ones about training!! Doodles are very energetic pups who crave attention. Definitely teach him boundaries and say no no to biting for the long-term. When they're puppies, they may not learn how to be gentle if raised long enough without siblings and will end up playing too rough. He's OK WITHOUT siblings, as growing up with them could cause littermate syndrome. Any signals to show when his biting is uncomfortable for you is a good thing. I know these cuties LOVE their toys, and a tug toy is usually a good one to have around while he's teething! Don't know if any of this is helpful but I thought I'd pitch in! Love your vids! <3

general tips:

- bathe him every 4-6 weeks, use gentle dog shampoos.

- brush him often, especially now as a puppy so he's not scared of when he's older.

- try to add some food toppers if you can afford it (ie : some meats / oils but obviously do research on what's best for his food, it's better with their diets than strictly dry kibble only)

- since you're crate training, don't ever treat the crate as a punishment now. crate training is to make the dog feel safe as it's their 'den', and they want to go in there when you leave or sleep etc, to use it as a punishment will scare him and make him have anxieties if you leave him whilst in the crate.

- definitely do get a dog trainer if you're not able to train him yourself.

- understand that since he is a dog, he is going to bark.. this is normal, don't be upset he does this. you can train him to bark less at strangers / and or inside (ie at his food or smth) but he will still bark

- get him toys!!! lots of chewies as he's teething rn, that's why he's biting! they typically grow out of that.
