Loved this film - It was so unusually ahead of its time in addressing one of the many perverse sides of society. 2024 and the issues still run deep and wide.

This is a great movie. Even though I was never in Sarah Jane's shoes I can slightly understand how she was feeling in that era but it was really sad how she treated her mother but she learned at the end but it was too late

She looks like Natalie Wood. They should've made a movie together playing sisters.

Sarah Jane made me so angry in this movie. I would have been happy to have a mother like that. I absolutely love my mommy and I’m proud to be her daughter.

👉 Loved this song but felt so sorry for Annie! She didn't raise
Sarah Jane to sing in some old smoky jazz club! Shame on her!
*"Sarah Jane Johnson, you put your clothes on!"* LOL!

Sara Jane was alright with breaking her mother’s heart and being so ashamed of her black side up until her mother passed away

The moral of this story is if you keep them in protected they will go out and experience EVERYTHING. ☺️

I was hoping Susan had sung the song herself. Hollywood had a bad habit of dubbing actor's voices back in those days and regardless of their singing ability, which affected the outcomes at Oscar time. Audrey Hepburn more than likely lost her Oscar to Julie Andrews when her singing of "I Could Have Danced All Night" was dubbed by another singer. I heard Audrey sing and she was not bad at all. Susan lost her Oscar for Best Supporting Actress to Shelly Winters.

Self hating is real. The poor mixed girl wanted to be the white girl, but to try to trick her friend (the young white girl) into killing herself too is EVIL!!. She(the mixed)actress is suicidal and deadly through jealously😮😮😮😢😢😢! I LOVED HER MOTHER. This is SO SAD! My mother, and grandmother, and aunts were just like her only difference they were West Indian Black single whom were just like I am GLAD I am not biracial . I am black like her mother! She was dark and And KIND AND CHRISTIAN!💐💐💐💐💐💐🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊

As a biracial woman this breaks my heart. Sarah Jane was soo mean and selfish.
