Scott Hancock Barn Raising

A crew of volunteer carpenters are headed up by several Amish barn builders to erect a timber-framed barn at Scott Hancock's new farm in Sautee Nacoochee, Ga. We watch them assemble the wall framing on the ground then, using a hoist with a spreader, place it in its vertical position. They then add joists and flooring as well as wooden siding. One of the experts explains the process and Scott Hancock tells us why he prefers this kind of barn. A couple draft horse teams pulled people movers to bring spectators from their cars to the action.
