Expensive… yes. But try doing the same thing at Vail or Aspen in the US. It would be triple that price, even without the flight!

Booking the chalet from the train on the way there is pretty casual.

In January I went skiing at Lake Tahoe, and it was at least triple that. I got a massively discounted season pass, but lift tickets at that resort are about $170/day. The hotel we stayed at also had a kitchen and was right by the lifts, and was $500/night. Slightly shorter flights there than yours were $200/person. Once there, we spent $400 in groceries + another $400 (ish) at restaurants (we did go to one pretty expensive place, that was like $150). Gas for the car was ~$300 for the week. I have my own skis, so that doesn’t even count rentals—that’s typically ~$40/day/person if rented in Reno, closer to $60-80 if rented at the Lake. Tbh it would probably be cheaper for us to fly from California to Europe to do this than 1 hour away to Lake Tahoe. That’s sad.

I live in a so called luxury resorts in Switzerland, but I love discovering other resorts in France or Italy. I spent some time in Megève, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Chamonix and few other resorts and I realized that prices are pretty similar in those places than in my swiss town, but what upsets me is to hear foreigners complaining about the swiss prices considering that salaries in Switzerland are about three time what they are in France or Italy. I remember Austria to be quite affordable

Wow, that's a bargain compared to Vail/Aspen/Jackson Hole... Even if including the cost of an international flight!

This whole time i thought it was ridiculous how my epic pass gives me access to European mountains. I saw the prices at heavenly and thought jeez, the European mountains are probably a pipe dream. This makes me feel like I'm probably frequenting one of the most expensive resorts in the world 😮

Conveniently omitting the SBB train ticket from Geneva Airport to Zermatt 200CHF [~175GBP] each, return. That's over 1000 GBP total.

Not bad lift tickets in Colorado are like $200+ daily
Ways more to stay that close to mountain.

Pretty reasonable price. Might go next year. Wouldn't not go so far for 3 days though, seems like a hassle for such short time
