Imagine how interesting baseball would be if you could run off the baseline like that. It would turn into a game of tag. It definitely wouldn't work out for a lot of reasons though.

Actually, that was a smart play on Beltre's part. It would've allowed the runner more time to get to second, in addition to the fielder with the ball chasing Beltre had his back turned.
