I adore Juliet Marillier! She's one of my favourite authors. I got to meet her last year on my birthday and it was incredible! She's such a wise and sweet lady.

I would like to really thank you for suggesting Wildwood Dancing. Fantastic book. So pleased the local library had it. I had never heard of this author. So blessed to have read this book and will look to see if I can buy the series. So good.

I love how diverse your tastes are! I loooove Frankenstein and I'm glad you enjoyed it too. I love hearing you talk about the fantasy books featuring fairies bc now I really want to try them aaaall

Knowing you’re on a fantasy kick, when you started talking about being obsessed with a new female author, I was hoping you were going to say Juliet Marillier! I absolutely adore her. I discovered her a few months ago, and so far have read the Blackthorn and Grim trilogy and am currently finishing up The Bridei Chronicles. I just love her writing, and she always gets me so invested in her characters. I think Sevenwaters will be next for me; I’ve also heard Heat’s Blood is a fantastic Beauty and the Beast retelling. It was great to hear someone else gush about her the way I do!

Fantasy/fae reccommendation: Seanan McGuire's October Daye series, which starts with Rosemary & Rue. The main character, October (Toby) lives in the mortal world in San Francisco in the present day, but the books also spend a lot of time in the faerie world. There's a lot of magic and political scheming.

Oh wow, I usually don’t want to read EVERY book mentioned in a “what I read” video but I really must read all of these, it all hit the nail on the head for all of interests!

I'm so excited to hear you talk about Juliet marillier. I adore her! Daughter of the forest was one of the first fantasy books that I fell in love with when I found it at a second hand book market when I was about 12. So incredible!!

So happy to see another booktuber reading Juliet Marillier! I discovered Daughter of the Forest in high school and have loved her work ever since. Keen to hear your thoughts on the rest of the series too. I would also recommend the Quickening series by Fiona McIntosh if you're wanting to read more fantasy, the first book is Myrren's Gift. I discovered Juliet Marillier and Fiona McIntosh about the same time and loved them both so hopefully you might too! :)

I am really enjoying the Blackthorn and Grim series Juliet wrote as well. I haven't read any of her other books but this video is making think I should.

Yeah, Frankenstein is great! I've never read the original text though, maybe I should! She was living in Marlow, where I used to work, when she wrote the majority of it :)

I think I was reading Daughter of the Forest about the same time as you! I also felt that turmoil while reading it.... it’s just soooo good! Currently reading Dreamer’a Pool by her and have Son of Shadows waiting to read. :)

If you're in the mood for fantasy (or even if you're not) I'll recommend The Goblin Emperor until the end of time, I adore it. And it looks like I really need to read some Juliet Marillier!

I’m adoring all these fantasy recommendations! Adding so many to my tbr. If you’re on a fantasy kick, have you ever read Robin McKinley? I think you’d really like it 😊

Also you should read Tithe. It's my favourite of Holly Black's faerie books and has characters that feature in The Cruel Prince :)

I finished the darkest part of the forest this month too and I loved it! Excited to read the cruel prince soon, but I like reading totally opposite types of genres after finishing a book, I feel it kinda cleanses my brain a bit, so a similar book isn't fresh in my mind and I'm not comparing books of the same genre to each other. I adore fairies too so thankyou for the other recommendations!

Your description of daughter of the forest reminds me of Robin Hobbs books. Lots of great character development, slow building plot but worth it. Any of her books with Fitz in them are my favorites, though they're all good. I'll definitely have to check out daughter of the forest.

I definitely want to read Tangleweed and Brine - I want to get more into short stories. I find them so hard to write! But, that cover! BEAUTIFUL!!
