Sandi, please tell Jess that the love she had for Duke never dies. Wherever she goes, she carries him with her in her memories of him and Safe in her heart. I'm so sorry on your loss of Duke. As a former Paramedic in Kingston, I responded to some pretty bad farm calls of injuries from the machinery. Some were good outcomes, some had to be airlifted to Toronto for more specialized treatment, and some calls didn't go so well at all. Jess, You’ve had a tough time this year with Covid disruption from school and isolation from friends. And this was to be a big year which unfortunately ends without the Grad celebrations you’ve been looking forward to for so long. My oldest daughter is your age and I’ve seen how much of a disappointment things have become and how unfair everything seems to be.
And now this tragic accident! My words may not be as comforting as your mom and dad’s are, but I send you my deepest condolences as I’m sure taking care of Duke was something meaningful and special to you as you took on the duty of caring for him.

I am so glad getting the hay cut and stored went well. That equipment was awesome. Thank you for sharing the ups with the downs and the tragic with the sad, as it shows people that it is not always rosy as we would like to think on a farm. I accidentally ran over our elderly dog years ago (he ran out at just the wrong time, ) and it just feels miserable. Big hugs to all. Especially Jess. When they’ve been there your whole life, it’s that much harder. 💜
