Al Ain Oasis
Imagine meandering pathways shaded beneath a thick canopy of over 147,000 date palms and other fruit trees? Al Ain Oasis is a perfect dream destination to bring family or friends to see what agriculture in this region has looked like for millennia. Still-operating a traditional Falaj irrigation system, Al Ain Oasis covers 1,200 hectares and provides a unique insight into the region's inhabitants who began taming the desert 4,000 years ago. The oasis includes date palms of 100 different varieties, as well as fodder crops and fruit trees, such as mango, orange, banana, fig and jujube. Al Ain Oasis has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011.
Jebel Hafeet
One of the best things to do in Abu Dhabi is to visit Jebel Hafeet in Al Ain. The towering Jebel Hafeet mountain is Abu Dhabi's largest peak and a great place to see Al Ain from a different perspective. It is not just the views from the mountain top that will mesmerise you but more than 500 ancient tombs, known as the Jebel Hafeet Tombs is a fascinating tourist attraction. In 2011, the site was recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site of Al Ain. It was the UAE’s first World Heritage Site. You can also experience this dynamic landscape up close with a memorable break at Jebel Hafeet Desert Park. The park offers three camping experiences and innumerable memories!
Al Ain Palace Museum
Al Ain is proud of its rich culture and heritage that narrate the beautiful history of the Abu Dhabi Emirate. Al Ain Palace Museum was originally a home to the Founding Father of the UAE and the first President of the country, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who lived here with his family until 1966. Inside the museum, the palace and the private residence provide insights into the lives of the ruling family and the country’s transformation after the discovery of petroleum. The Bedouin-style architecture dates back to 1937, with the structure converted into a museum in 1998 as a key tourist attraction.
