I am going from 1gb fiber to 2gb. I currently have a ziply fiber router (kinda sucks) and a deco m5 mesh. If I buy this router do I need a new mesh system or is it built in? Saving money isn’t the objective. I also work from home and also have a ring security system with 9 outdoor cameras. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you talking about a better router with fewer ports? I have the RT-AC88U router which has eight land ports (I use all of them). This new ASUS router RT-AXE7800 you are speaking of has way fewer lan ports (3) which is a far cry from what I have. How am I suppose to replace with this one?

I'm kind of picky with routers. This one checks all the marks. Upgraded my old Wifi 5 Asus router to this one and it's been solid and fast. Added bonus with Asus is I got to add the old one as a mesh node very easily.

Why is wired so much slower than wifi ?

I just replaced my old netgear nighthawk R6700 (which still performs like a champ) with this and I'm getting pretty frequent dropped signals. It reconnects pretty quickly but still kind of annoying.

Waiting till the new iMac comes out which will have this Wifi 6e thing and then looking to get this router to replace my Linksys EA9500. The router is excellent and has no reason to really upgrade, just want to be able to get the max amount of output for the new machine.

Your doing your wireless Speedtest wrong on your phone that only the way you did it just test the speed to the router

Also this router isn’t great for 6e speeds I get better speeds with 5ghz 160mhz frequency than I did with 6e so I returned it and got the gt -ax6000 which has much better range than the 7800
