It makes me sad that I’ve never heard this story before. Everyone should know about this great man and what a hero he is❣️

This man needs a medal, if he wasn’t there over 2, 000 more people would have died on that day, honor this man.

I first heard about him back in 2002 here in NYC. Alot of unsung heroes on 9/11. Like the volunteer firefighter with the red bandana who rescued people, and was sadly was killed in the collapse.

There was this really moving scene. Several days after the attacks; the responders and construction workers who were removing and clearing the rubble; they were doing it with such a regard and consideration for the potential undiscovered victims. Even the people who were operating the big and heavy excavator were using such caution and sensitivity. I got some filmmaking/acting experience and I swear, heroes like that and Rick deserve a tribute, especially since many of them suffered and died of cancer and other related illnesses.

I can only imagine what his widow must feel after getting a phone call like that. What a brilliantly brave and honorable man

I've been telling his story for many years. I often used his example to train my own troops during my time in the US Military. For those interested, I first came across his 9/11 story in the book "The Unthinkable" by Amanda Ripley - which is an incredible book that examines why some survive catastrophe and why others don't. He is also featured on the cover of "We were solders once" and was instrumental to that fateful battle in Vietnam. I am not sure why he is not better known. He lived an incredible life, worthy of a Hollywood movie. I would encourage everyone, especially those in leadership or that serve in dangerous careers, to take the time to learn more about his extraordinary life. There will never be an end to the good he did on that day or in his life.

That means thousands of others were told to stay in place erroneously. Whoever made that call should be in prison

NEVER FORGET, !! The Senate gave final legislative approval to a bill ensuring that a victims’ compensation fund related to the Sept. 11 attacks never runs out of money. GOP Sens. Mike Lee of Utah and Rand Paul of Kentucky were the only senators who voted against the bill’s final passage.
